Your Role as a Tax Manager
As a Tax Manager, you will:
- Manage projects: Schedule staff and coordinate engagement workflow to ensure efficient resource use.
- Supervise team members: Provide guidance and feedback to help grow and develop the team.
- Lead multiple tax engagements: Deliver exceptional service to clients.
- Facilitate professional development: Encourage team members to pursue certifications and growth opportunities.
- Prepare and review complex tax returns: Individual, sole proprietorship, corporate, fiduciary, partnership, and non-profit returns.
- Ensure compliance: Ensure that tax services comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Represent the firm: During tax audits and in responding to inquiries from regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate across departments: Provide tax insights and align strategies with business objectives.
- Consult with clients: On accounting, bookkeeping, and tax issues.
- Stay current: Maintain high technical proficiency and stay informed on regulatory and industry changes.
- Build relationships: Manage client and business partner relationships with enthusiasm and leadership.
- Promote new ideas: Develop business solutions that result in extended services.
Is This You?
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required. A Master’s degree in Taxation or Accounting is preferred but not mandatory.
- Certification: CPA certification is required.
- Experience: 7+ years of experience in public accounting and tax is required.
- Skills:
- Experience in preparing complex individual, corporate, and partnership returns.
- Ability to conduct thorough tax research to develop effective tax planning strategies.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Strong accounting, business, and analytical skills.
- Proficient in tax software, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Suite products.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- High attention to detail with the ability to juggle multiple tasks.
- Strong commitment to ethical standards and ability to handle confidential information discreetly.
